Mark Your Calendar: The Magic of Broadway Returns to Scranton

The timing works well this year as my summer blog coincides perfectly with the announcement of our 2024-2025 Season of Broadway Theatre League in Scranton. This season will be our 65th season of bringing Broadway’s best to NEPA. We have four amazing Broadway shows lined up and each show will play four performances from Friday through Sunday. We couldn’t be more excited! All shows are held at the beautiful Scranton Cultural Center in downtown Scranton. Every show in our 65 seasons has been at this wonderful location.

Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations

We open the season on November 15 with Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations. This musical about one of the greatest R&B groups of all time will surely have you swaying along to classic songs that never get old such as “My Girl” and “Just my Imagination”. Winner of the Tony Award for Choreography, this amazing cast has all the moves that earned the Temptations a place in the rock and roll hall of fame. As far as the rest of the season, “Get Ready” for here we come!

The Addams Family

Start snapping your fingers, because the only way that I can describe the next show is that “They’re creepy and they’re Kooky, mysterious and spooky” – yes, The Addams Family lands in Scranton on March 7, 2025, just in time for you to celebrate my birthday with me. Everyone who has brought a boyfriend or girlfriend home to meet their parents will appreciate the plot of this popular musical. Wednesday Addams is bringing her “normal” boyfriend home to meet perhaps the wackiest family ever. It is the funniest dinner party you have seen. Popular for both adults and children, we anticipate great crowds for this show. *snap snap*

Dear Evan Hansen

Winner of six Tony awards including Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen premiers on April 4, 2025. One of the finest musicals over the past several years, I have listened to the original Broadway cast recording on repeat many many times. The show intertwines how social media, the feelings of being an outsider, and teenage love and friendship can take control of life. Feel free to give the original cast recording a listen – you will not be sorry. One of my favorite songs from the show is titled “You Will Be Found”, and I can say with some certainty that you will be found on the outside looking in if you don’t get your tickets to this show early!

Mean Girls

Finally, we close our season with Mean Girls on May 16, 2025. Already two popular movies have been made for this show, and this Broadway musical with a book by the hilarious Tina Fey is a great way to cap off our season of hits. All of us who have gone through high school have met a “Regina George,” the leader of the mean girls. In this show, she has met her match with innocent (or not so innocent) Cady Heron. Or has she?  It is a fun and funny musical that all of us will relate to and leave the theatre with a big smile on our faces, ending our 65th season on a really high note.

Season Subscriptions: The Best Seats, Prices, and Perks

Season subscriptions are the best way to see all shows from a seat location and price standpoint. Season tickets go on sale for renewal and new subscribers on Monday, August 19, by calling our office at 570-342-7784, online at broadwayinscranton.com, and in person at the Broadway Theatre League office, 345 N. Washington Avenue, Scranton, PA.

By becoming a season ticket holder, you have the benefit of having the same seats for every performance, the option of renewing those seats every year for as long as you want them, ability to exchange your ticket for another performance of the same show, first notice of any add-on shows, and the ability to buy additional individual tickets before they go on sale to the public.

So, please join us. We would love to have you as part of our family of theatre lovers in NEPA. What can be better that that? Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you at the theatre in the fall!
