5K, Concerts, Plenty of Yuengling and Summerfest Fun Across Schuylkill County
We are brewing up awesomeness in Schuylkill County this spring! Now is the time when our community really kicks it up a notch, and we hardly stop until…well, until it’s time to close out 2024.
Yuengling Light Lager Jogger
One of our biggest and best events is the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger on April 20 in Pottsville. In its twelfth year, this race is so much more than your typical 5k. The race begins and ends at America’s Oldest brewery; that alone should be enough to persuade you.
But in case it’s not, consider this: the whole community gets involved in this celebration. Each year, a local crew of race volunteers of all ages, including students, seniors, and all of us in between come together behind the scenes and have a lot of fun. As a part of this group, I can personally attest to the good race vibes that envelope our whole community Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Whether you are a participant or just an ambling bystander, you’ll find festive homes along the route, and many a house party encouraging the runners as well as offering food, bevvies, and hospitality.
The post-race block party at the brewery is packed with live tunes, scrumptious eats, fresh brews, and over 40 vendors to explore. Downtown Pottsville’s restaurants, breweries, shops, and bars have pre-and post-race celebrations with live entertainment and race-day specials of all types. The camaraderie and the fun just might overshadow the beer!
Tamaqua Summerfest
In our eastern tier, Tamaqua Summerfest is planned for June 16. This is another long-standing event in Schuylkill County that’s got something for everyone.
This festival includes local favorite spaces such as The Tamaqua Historical Society Museum, Hegarty Blacksmith Shop, and the 1874 Tamaqua Train Station and spills out onto a vendor-packed Railroad Street. There will be live entertainment throughout the day, including Polka Joe Manjack of WMGH, food trucks and restaurants, amusements, games, kid’s play area, and train rides running out of the train station. There are some tremendous places to stay nearby including Bischoff Inn and The Village at Houser’s Crossing which will afford you time to check out the town’s community art center and tremendous craft breweries too.
Yuengling’s Stars and Stripes Summer Celebration
The fun never stops brewing here, and downtown Pottsville is where you want to be on July 13 for Yuengling’s Stars and Stripes Summer Celebration Concert. This 195 birthday party for America’s Oldest Brewery is actually an epic, day-long community integrated event celebrating Yuengling’s partner, Team Red, White & Blue.
The event includes multiple footprints throughout town, three stages, three beer gardens, food trucks, vendors, fireworks, and a free, family-friendly concert headlined by Lee Brice, multi-Platinum selling American country music star, highly decorated songwriter, and official Brand Ambassador for Yuengling Traditional Lager.
This is a celebration you do not want to miss in a historic, welcoming town that’s been brewing up celebrations with Yuengling for 195 years. We promise you will have a wonderful time with us!
