Harry and Mary Goeringer Preserve | Quiet forest trails in White Haven

Harry and Mary Goeringer Preserve in White Haven, PA is a protected nature area managed by The Nature Conservancy with public trails open year-round. Spanning 390 acres, the preserve features a peaceful oak-heath forest with a mostly flat, 2.5-mile trail suitable for hiking, biking and casual exploration.

The trail leads visitors through dense woodland to a secluded lake surrounded by wild cranberries. This calm setting makes the preserve a favorite spot for birdwatching and photography. Species like scarlet tanagers, hermit thrushes and rose-breasted grosbeaks are commonly spotted throughout the seasons. The gentle terrain encourages slow walks and quiet observation of the surrounding landscape.

The preserve has historical significance as well. The land was once used for harvesting ice blocks shipped to Philadelphia. Acquired by The Nature Conservancy in 2012, the property is now carefully managed to maintain forest health and protect rare plant species. It also connects with nearby conservation lands, helping form a large wildlife corridor.

Harry and Mary Goeringer Preserve in White Haven delivers tranquil outdoor recreation and preserved natural beauty.
