With its accessible downtown location, the Central Branch of the Osterhout Free Library serves as the hub of the Wilkes-Barre Library System.

Library members are welcomed to explore and borrow from the extensive collection of books, CDs, movies, video games and so much more.

Library cards are free to all Luzerne County residents. Members may access all of the library’s educational, recreational, and professional materials and services. They may also borrow from any library within the Luzerne County System.

The library hosts regular special events, such as The Annual Book Sale, Books and Babies, Teen Night, Movie Nights, and so much more.

There are several branches throughout the city, including the North Branch, Plains Branch, and South Branch. Library hours vary at each branch.
