One of the first things you might notice about the Columns Museum in Milford is that it doesn’t look like what you’d expect from a typical historical society museum. Instead of a humble old house, it stands tall as a 22-room mansion with pristine white paint and a bold neoclassical style. This building was built for Jersey City business mogul Dennis McLaughlin and now serves as the site for the Pike County Historical Society, which proudly displays an extensive collection of local history. Some of their most prized artifacts include an 1850s stagecoach and the Lincoln Flag, which was placed under President Lincoln’s head shortly after his assassination at Ford’s Theatre.
