In Northeastern Pennsylvania, there’s always something on the calendar. Throughout the year, communities across our 10-county region host annual fairs and festivals, races and walks, and seasonal celebrations that bring people together and keep local traditions going.

Many of these events have been happening for decades. Parades, heritage festivals, county fairs and major races return each year with the same familiar lineup, drawing longtime attendees, families who make it a tradition and visitors who plan their trips around them. Others are newer but have quickly become part of the yearly rotation. Either way, these are the events locals count on and look forward to every year.

Spring Festivals & Annual Events in NEPA

As winter fades, Northeastern Pennsylvania starts to feel busy again. St. Patrick’s Day celebrations fill downtown streets in March, followed by Easter events, egg hunts and family traditions that carry into early spring. Warmer weekends bring food and drink festivals back outdoors, along with arts celebrations, live music and community fairs that mark the start of the festival season.

Spring is also prime time for races and walks across the region, with runners and spectators turning out for longtime favorites and new additions alike. Baseball returns, touring productions and concerts pick up, and local venues shift into a full calendar after the quieter winter months. By the time May rolls around, the pace has clearly changed — and the stretch of back-to-back festival weekends is officially underway.

Summer Festivals & Annual Events in NEPA

Summer is peak festival season in Northeastern Pennsylvania. From June through August, the calendar fills quickly with food festivals, county fairs, cultural celebrations and outdoor concert series happening nearly every weekend. Fourth of July fireworks light up communities across the region, while long-running summer traditions like La Festa Italiana, Railfest and local heritage festivals draw big crowds year after year.

County fairs return with rides, livestock shows and live entertainment, and signature food festivals — from pierogies and kielbasa to tomatoes and more, celebrating NEPA’s roots in a big way. Race season returns in full force with major events like the Steamtown Marathon and the historic Run for the Diamonds, bringing runners and spectators out on crisp fall mornings.
