Snap Frame-Worthy Foliage Pics on these Colorful Autumn Hikes
It’s time to slip back into fall mode. And there’s no easier way to welcome the change of seasons than with a few scenic hikes on NEPA’s awesome trails. Lace up those hiking boots. Pull out the puffy vests. Leash up your furry little buddies and get out there to fill that social feed with stunning splashes of orange, yellow and red.
We’ve rounded up a handful of awesome fall hikes throughout NEPA. With cascading waterfalls, foggy forests, cool, clear lakes and of course those gorgeous trees, you won’t have to go far to get your regular dose of fall.
Enjoy beautiful autumn views of the 35-acre lake and surrounding mountain top scenery at Merli-Sarnoski Park in Fell Twp. The 8-mile Bike Trail offers a grand tour of the park.
Enjoy clear mountain top views and vibrant foliage on the Dick and Nancy Eales Preserve at Moosic Mountain in Jessup, PA. The 3.4-mile Blueberry Trail creates an easy, scenic loop.
Take on Lackawanna State Park’s steepest elevation change on this 1-mile, out-and-back trail. Keep an eye out for wildlife and stunning, wide-open lake and meadow views.
Hike from one waterfall to the next on the popular, 7.2-mile Falls Trail at Ricketts Glen State Park in Benton. Pair the park’s 21 waterfalls with steep trailside cliffs and overhead foliage views.
Every bit of this 30-mile trail at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Bushkill features riverside foliage, sweeping ridgetop views and the occasional waterfall.
This flat, 1-mile connector trail at Salt Springs State Park in Montrose carries you along, tree-lined meadows, old stone walls and foundations and some really cool rock formations.
Enjoy gorgeous foliage alongside Shades Creek on this moderate 2.3-mile trail at Bear Creek Nature Preserve. The trail also leads to an incredible scenic overlook.
Hop on the rugged, densely-forested Thunder Swamp Trail at Delaware State Forest in East Stroudsburg. Follow the orange blazes to the 35-acre Lake Minisink for beautiful foliage views.
Bring your furry friends along for an easy walk on this popular, paved trail at South Abington Recreation Park in South Abington Twp. The trail also features two covered bridges.
Take in amazing foliage views along the shores of Prompton Lake on this 3.5-mile trail at Prompton State Park. The trail combines colorful forest scenery with expansive lake views.
